How we calculate it
- We multiply the processor TDP by 1.4 (boost peaks) and the graphics card by 1.2 (short spikes), add ~60 W for the motherboard, RAM and peripherals, plus a few watts each for drives and fans.
- Recommended wattage = load + 20% headroom, rounded to the nearest 50 W - or the recommendation from the graphics card manufacturer, if that is higher.
- If the graphics card uses 12VHPWR (RTX 40/50 series), choose an ATX 3.0/3.1 unit with a native connector, no adapters.
The figures are approximate - the real load depends on the specific models and the type of workload.
