Privacy policy
This policy explains what data we collect on fpscalculator.co.uk, why we collect it and what rights you have.
Who controls your data
The site is operated by MB „Variantai“ (306133252, Dailidžių k. 7, Rūdiškių sen., Trakų r. sav., LT-21177), a company established in Lithuania. We have no branch, office or subsidiary in the United Kingdom. For anything to do with personal data, write to info@fpscalculator.co.uk.
What we collect
Technical usage data: the time of your requests, browser type and approximate location from your IP address. Logs of outbound clicks to shops are stored with the IP address irreversibly hashed (SHA-256), so you cannot be identified from them.
Partner enquiry form: company name, contact person, email address, phone number - only what the sender types. When a partner accepts the partnership agreement we also record the signer's name, the time and the IP address.
Functional settings are kept in your browser (localStorage) rather than in cookies: theme, consent choice, the build you are working on, and a note that this browser is signed in. None of that reaches our servers unless you save it to an account (see below), and a shared build travels in the link itself (?b=...).
To protect sign-in, registration and our forms from abuse we record the IP address and time of those requests, and use the records only to limit how many requests are accepted.
Accounts, saved builds and community
You can use the site without an account. If you create one we store your email address, the nickname you choose and a hash of your password (never the password itself), your language and market, and whether you agreed to receive our newsletter.
In the account we keep what you save there: builds, watched products, price alerts, favourites, likes, reviews and comments. Builds you make public, and your reviews and comments, are shown with your nickname.
Lawful basis: performance of a contract (the terms of use). We keep the data while the account exists; to delete it, write to info@fpscalculator.co.uk from the account's email address.
Emails
We send only the emails an account needs or that you ask for: account confirmation and password reset, price and stock alerts for products and builds you watch, notices about activity on your account and, only if you opted in, our newsletter (lawful basis: performance of a contract; for the newsletter, consent). Every newsletter carries an unsubscribe link, and you can also withdraw consent in your account settings. Alerts carry no unsubscribe link: an alert stops as soon as you remove it where you set it (the price-watch button on the product page, a build's price tracking on your profile, or the “Price alerts” page), or when your account is deleted. For newsletters we count opens and link clicks per campaign in total, not per recipient. Emails are delivered by Resend, Inc.
Contact form
The name, email address and message you send through the contact form are forwarded to us by email. We use them only to reply (legitimate interests) and keep them until the matter is dealt with and for a further 12 months.
Purposes and lawful bases
We process this data under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018: to run and secure the site (legitimate interests); to provide your account, what you save in it and the alerts you set (performance of a contract); to send the newsletter you opted into (consent); to bill partner shops for outbound clicks (legitimate interests and performance of a contract); to answer enquiries sent to us (consent or steps taken before a contract); and for advertising and site analytics - only on your consent. Site analytics are provided by Vercel Web Analytics, which sets no cookies; like advertising it loads only after you choose “Accept all”.
Who receives your data
We do not sell personal data. Partner shops receive only aggregate click statistics containing no personal data. Hosting is provided by Vercel Inc., and data may be processed in the EU and the United States. Our database is run by Neon Inc. on servers in the EU (Frankfurt), and emails are delivered by Resend, Inc.; both act only on our instructions.
Because the controller is in Lithuania and the hosting provider is a US company, your data is processed outside the United Kingdom.
Advertising is served by Google AdSense and loads only after you choose “Accept all” in the consent banner. Google may then use cookies to personalise ads; see policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
How long we keep it
Click logs - up to 24 months, for billing audit. Partner enquiries - until they are dealt with and for a further 12 months. Account data and what you saved in it - while the account exists. Contact-form messages - until the matter is dealt with and for a further 12 months.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you can ask for access to your data, correction, erasure, restriction of processing and portability, and you can object to processing. Where we rely on consent you can withdraw it at any time. Bear in mind that click logs hold only a hashed IP address, so in practice we cannot connect them to you. Write to info@fpscalculator.co.uk. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Children
The service is not aimed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, write to info@fpscalculator.co.uk and we will delete it.
Changes
If we update this policy we will publish the new version on this page with the date it was updated.
